Family Water Usage

Click on the picture to open the spreadsheet. Make a copy and Title it 'Water Usage and your Name"
Let's see how much water we use~

Analysis of Data:  Analyze your data using the guiding questions below.

Take a screen shot of your water usage graph and put it into a blog post.
Write a paragraph answering these questions using the data from your table and graph.  Make sure you answer all of the questions in your paragraph - (don't write the questions, just answer them in a paragraph - you know what I mean)

1.  What is your family's average monthly water usage in cubic meters for the past six months?

2.  The national average of monthly water use for households in Singapore is 33.4 cubic meters.  If you live in a condo the national average is around 15.3 cubic meters
        - Is your family above or below the average?
        - How much above or below the aerage?
        - What percentage above or below the average?

3.  What was your family's lowest month of usage?  Can you think of any explanation why it might have been lower?

4.  What was your family's highest month of usage?  Can you think of any explanation why it might have been higher?

5. How much money could your family save if you cut your usage by 20 percent?
How much money could your family save if you cut your usage by 30 percent?

6.  There are many easy and inexpensive things you can do to cut your water consumption by 10-40 percent.  Come up with a plan and bullet point your ideas (with your family)

Water Cycle, Aquifers, and Singapore's 4 National Taps

Water is a non renewable resource. What does that mean? Think of the water cycle you learned in elementary school. Before we begin today's lesson let's take a look at three things.

 1. The water cycle: As a reminder - watch the Tim and Moby clip on water cycle.

2. Where does our drinking water come from? What is the water table and what is an aquifer?Again...watch Tim and Moby, but this time, take the review quiz after you're finished, just to check your understanding.  No need to print it off - it's just for your understanding.

3. Singapore is an island of over 5 million people. How does Singapore get it's water? Watch the video below and in your journal explain Singapore's 4 National Taps. Singapore has been studied by countries all over the world for its ingenious water conservation.
