The Summative Locker Alarm Assignment is due next Wednesday.  

If you were unable to complete the challenge during class, be sure to do so on your own time.

Please be sure to follow the task requirements and rubric handed out in class.

• Explanation of how the alarm works - include all concepts we've learned so far. The vocabulary is included in the assignment sheet. The explanation can be incorporated in the video, or it can be written
• Pictures of final schematic design

From the cell webquest and the onion and cheek cell labs you've learned a few fundamental differences between plant and animal cells. Both plant and animal cells have a cell membrane, but only the plant cell also has a cell wall. In the elodea lab you can clearly see the structure and function of each. The process you will see is called plasmolysis - you'll do some further reading on it in the lab. Plasmolysis in action! 

1. What happens to the cells as the salt water flows under the cover slip?

Science during Christmas Break!

For the first time in 20 years, my Brother came to visit us in Singapore. It's always been extremely difficult for him to get away for any extended period of time, as he owns an architectural firm in Florida.  However, since this is our last year in Singapore he decided to buck up and make the trip.  He and his fiancé spent eight glorious days with us exploring Singapore.  It was amazing to explore the city with newcomers. Everything that has become normal and commonplace to us was awe inspiring to them-from walks in nature parks to exploring the rich ethnic enclaves.  From chili crab, laksa, kaya toast to checking out the buildings throughout the city.
It was a rich experience for us to see the architecture of Singapore through their eyes.  Did you know that we have a building in Singapore that was voted the WORLD BUILDING OF THE YEAR in 2015.  It's not Marina Bay Sands or the Esplanade!  It's an apartment building on Telok Blangah that I never knew existed called "The Interlace".  Indeed an engineering and design marvel. Properties of Matter Summative Question - Practice

Student Somebody wanted to see if water and salt would chemically react when heated.  Somebody decided to collect data on the water and salt both before and after heating.

Try to complete the CER  and then compare your response to this example.

States of Matter - A Physical Change
